Human genome

The human genome is the genome of Homo sapiens. Its haploid content is 3.2Gbp (billion base pairs), containing roughly 23,000 protein-coding genes and the remainder being formed of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) genes, introns, regulatory sequences and 'junk' DNA. The human genome project was an international effort to sequence the euchromatic genome for use especially in the biomedical sciences.
